Gather with us

Come as you are.
You will be received as family.

Sunday is the gathering we ask you to plan around. What you need to know before a first visit is below, and if something is missing, write to us and we will answer.

Sunday worship

Praise, the Word and prayer, with a welcome for first-time guests at the end of the service.

What to expect

Come as you are

No dress code and nothing to pay. Someone from the welcome team will meet you at the door and sit with you if you would rather not walk in alone.

Bringing children

They are welcome

Children stay with their families in the service. Nobody here minds the noise a child makes.

Who we are

A missionary community, planted in Tacoma, sent to the nations.

Holy Mountain Washington Church is the Tacoma congregation of the Communauté Évangélique Missionnaire La Montagne Sainte (CEMMS). We are a community of believers from many countries and languages, holding one confession: Jesus Christ is Lord.

We hold to the Bible as the Word of God, to salvation by grace through faith, to the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer, and to the Great Commission as the assignment of every disciple — not only of pastors.

Leadership

The people who carry this house.

You should know who is leading before you walk through the door. These are the people who carry this church, and who you will meet on a Sunday.

Serving together

Couple Kalakala

The Kalakalas lead this church together. Marriage, home and family are not kept apart from the ministry here. They are part of how the community is taught, welcomed and cared for.

Vision & mission

Two sentences that decide everything we do.

Vision

Go out into the world

We do not exist for ourselves. The church is not the building we meet in — it is the people God sends out of it, into workplaces, campuses, neighbourhoods and nations, carrying the light they received.

Isaiah 43

Mission

Make disciples of Jesus

Not crowds — disciples. People who know the Word, walk in the Spirit, are formed in character, and are able in turn to lead someone else to Christ and teach them to obey everything he commanded.

Matthew 28:19

Ministries

There is a place here for what God put in you.

Every ministry is open to members and to guests who want to serve. Tell us where you would like to start and we will connect you with the person who leads it.

Worship & music

Singers, musicians and sound technicians who carry the congregation into the presence of God week after week.

Prayer & intercession

The engine room of the church. We pray for our city, our families, the sick and the nations.

Youth & children

Teaching that takes young people seriously, so the next generation owns the faith rather than inherits a habit.

Missions & evangelism

Outreach across Tacoma and the South Sound, and support for the wider CEMMS missionary work — the reason the church carries the name it does.

Women & men fellowship

Smaller circles where marriage, work, money, singleness and faith are discussed honestly and prayed over.

Welcome & care

Hospitality, practical help for new arrivals in the United States, visits to the sick and support in bereavement.

Church life

Worship night.

Worship Night is an evening given entirely to praise and to the presence of God, led by our worship team. This is what it looks like.

Give

Every gift goes into the mission.

Tithes and offerings pay for the room we meet in, the equipment our worship team uses, care for families in difficulty, and the missionary work our community supports.

Giving is an act of worship, never a condition of welcome. You are just as welcome here if you never give a dollar.
